Francis J. Manley, Ph.D. - Licensed Psychologist - Diplomate Jungian Analyst

Dr. Manley is a clinical psychologist and Jungian analyst who has been in practice for more than 30 years. He offers short-term psychotherapy and long term analysis to solve psychological problems through dreams and other windows into the unconscious mind in order to understand the causes of the individuals suffering—and to access untapped resources and strengths concealed within the person’s psyche.

For more than 20 years, he has been a consultant to police agencies, providing pre-employment, fitness for duty, and post-shooting evaluations as well as intensive treatment of trauma-related disorders.

He has also served as a consultant to psychiatric hospitals to provide evaluation of complicated cases so that the patients could receive the best possible assistance.

Dr. Manley has lectured extensively on topics which include dreams, active imagination, hypnosis, the recovery of meaning following trauma, windows into the unconscious, and discovering one’s spirituality as a part of healing. He has also taught college classes on psychological subjects.

He has had extensive training in sex therapy, hypnosis, family therapy, Gestalt therapy, healing developmental wounds, trauma stabilization, psychological testing, counseling and Jungian Analysis.

Dr. Manley holds a Ph.D. and Masters degrees in clinical psychology. His Bachelors degree is in philosophy. He holds a post-doctoral diploma in Analytical Psychology and is certified as a Jungian Analyst.

He is a member of the American Psychological Association, The Inter-Regional Sociality of Jungian Analysts, and the International Association of Analytical Psychology.

His doctoral dissertation was a study of how different methods of working with dreams can aid people who are suffering from depression. His Jungian thesis, The Death and Rebirth of God images in the Psyche, is a study of how the human personality heals from trauma and finds new centers of meaning following shattering psychological experiences.

About My Practice

Most people tell me that my office is peaceful and comfortable. I encourage clients to be relaxed and open. I believe that the two of us together can learn more and solve problems more rapidly than either of us could separately. I believe that the human psyche is self-healing and simply requires support and expert guidance in a non-critical atmosphere in order to get better, to have successful life experiences, and to achieve a feeling of optimal health on all levels. Every individual is unique. Therefore the treatment approach in my office is tailor-made to the person’s special needs. Treatment may include examination of self-limiting beliefs, discussion of problems in interpersonal relationships, dream analysis, hypnosis or the learning of techniques to stabilize and heal following traumatic experiences.
